In 2023, The #MNews Team had the opportunity to experience a variety of homegrown events and brands. In 2024, we’re excited to do more of the same. Today, we’re starting off strong with Poise Pilates.
For the uninitiated, Pilates is a mind-body exercise that originated around the 1920s. This form of exercise strengthens the entire body by focusing on mindful movements, and can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
Pilates workouts can be done at home, or in-person in a class setting like those provided by Poise Pilates.

Poise Pilates is a reformer and mat pilates studio in Mount Pleasant. The studio also provides ballet barre classes. Classes are available every day of the week at various times, so no excuses!
The founder of Poise, Kim McBean, describes the classes as “diverse and dynamic” and beneficial for already active individuals and beginners. The daily class schedules also provide an opportunity for attendees to build community with other Pilates-lovers in Harare.
Group classes start at $15 for single classes, and varied pricing for packages.

Individuals who are interested in Poise will be happy to know that the studio is focused on health and education, as much as they are focused on fitness and growth. An important pillar of Pilates is mindfulness, and Poise has embraced this since their inception in March 2023.

The New Year is upon us, and to keep the motivation going all year long, Poise will be hosting special Pilates and Barre events throughout the year. “Barre and Bubbles” being the upcoming headliner.
For a sneak peak into their classes, I recommend watching the Reels on the Poise Pilates Instagram page.
